The next IH PTSA meeting will be held on Friday, September 10 at Issaquah High.
Come at 9:00 am for a half hour of coffee and socializing. The meeting will
begin at 9:30
am.
All are welcome to attend! Principal
Paula Phelps will give a report and we will hear an update on the
construction progress. ·
Come and check out the new
Issaquah High School! An afternoon to celebrate our new building will
be Friday, August
20 and will include tours of the school and food. Activities begin
at 4:00 pm. ·

SAT/ACT
Readiness · Reflections is a national PTSA program focused on the arts. The
theme for 2010-2011 is “Together We
Can.” ·
Parent
Education: Many parenting classes
are offered in our district and local communities. A current listing is available on the Issaquah PTSA
Council website. · Legislation: The
Washington State legislative session has concluded. Information on how lawmakers’ decisions
affect the Issaquah School District and other legislative news can be found
on our Legislation webpage. ·
New School Volunteers
Needed! Many
hands are needed to prepare for the move into the new facilities later this
spring and into the summer. Adults and students welcome! This is a great way to
get community service hours and be among the first to roam the halls. ·
Homework
Help: Issaquah
Schools Foundation sponsors after-school Homework Labs at every middle and
high school. At I.H.S., these labs offer
teacher-assisted tutoring in math and writing. Students can receive help for
classes at all levels, from remedial to AP. Visit the I.H.S. website for more
information. ·
Speed cameras are located near the high school. The cameras operate 7:00 am – 4:00 pm on school
days monitor both directions of traffic. Vehicles that exceed the school
zone's speed limit of 20 mph will be photographed. Before notice of
infractions are mailed to the registered owners of speeding vehicles, the
Issaquah Police Department reviews and confirms each violation. The
infraction is a noncriminal offense that is not part of the violator's
driving record. ·
College Resources: The IHS Counseling Department/Career Center has many
resources to help families navigate through the college search, admissions,
and selection process. It is a great starting point for parents of
sophomores, juniors and seniors. · Check

boundaries that will go into effect in Fall 2010 have been adopted.

resource for parents, with information on health and wellness, student
achievement, safety, and media and technology. In addition, your membership in IHS PTSA
gives you access to other member benefits.

The
Washington
State PTA website
has parent resources, with topics ranging from grade level expectations to
WASL to internet safety to emergency preparedness and more. There are also
articles relating to school violence and the need to ensure our students that
schools are safe and nurturing places.
