Why Join PTSA?

To advocate for students

Advocacy is at the heart of PTA. PTA / PTSA is the largest child-advocacy association in the state of Washington. IH PTSA members provide voice and vote for IHS students and for all students at the state and national level addressing public policy issues affecting families and children. The #1 reason to join the PTA is to advocate for your child and for all children. Learn more about PTA Advocacy: here

To enrich the IHS experience for the entire school community

IH PTSA programs and events touch the lives of every IHS student, and they enhance the high school experience for parents, staff, and the greater Issaquah Community. Click here for a full listing of our programs and events and click here to see how funds were spent in previous years.

To stay informed and connected

There is no better way to stay informed and connected than by joining the IH PTSA through:

  -Monthly eNewsletters and eNews Blasts which provide current information on events and programs at IHS, the Issaquah School District, and the community;

  -the IH PTSA Facebook page (click here) which provides up-to-the minute information including photos, videos and links;

  -this website which provides a wealth of information including: a calendar of events, listing of upcoming volunteer opportunities, information about all PTSA programs and events, meeting minutes and agendas, and links to Parent Ed presentations;

 -the PTSA display case outside the IHS front office which provides forms and information relevant to students as well as parents.

 -the IH PTSA monthly General Membership Meetings which are an excellent resource for in depth information about the interworkings of IHS, PTSA programs and events, and the Issaquah School District.
[General Membership Meetings place on the second Friday of each month at 9:30 am (with social time at 9 am) and are held in the Main Conference Room behind the IHS front office. Meetings are a great place to connect with other parents, guardians and community members, and hear directly from our principal, our ASB advisor, and our School Resource Officer. Guest Speakers regularly address issues relevant to the IHS community. General Membership meetings also offer members direct input into PTSA programs and events and allocation of PTSA funds. Meetings are open to the general public, however, only IH PTSA members may vote. Click here for past General Membership Meeting minutes and agendas.];

 -the IHS Student Directory which is published annually by the PTSA and is available only to PTSA family members. The directory provides valuable reference information as well as contact information for every IHS family.

To make a difference

Lend your passion, creativity, and energy to PTSA. Do you have an idea for a new Program or Event? Would you like to chair a committee? We want to hear from you! Fresh ideas keep IH PTSA relevant and ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our current school population. Member donations fund all PTSA programs, events, grants, and financial support.

To get involved and volunteer

PTSA member-volunteers can create, plan, coordinate, and staff all PTSA-sponsored programs, events, and services. Additionally, IHS Staff turns to PTSA members first with their volunteer needs. Volunteer opportunities throughout the year provide a great way to get involved and gain a first-hand understanding of life at IHS. Sign up to volunteer directly from the PTSA website here.

To receive access to IHS PTSA Parent Education Resources

IH PTSA members have access to a growing Parent Lending Library which has a number of books addressing general parenting as well as specialized topics such as anxiety, substance abuse and the autism spectrum. In addition, members can not only attend lectures by regionally and nationally renowned speakers free of charge, they can also have access to videos of their talks through Parentwiser. Access is restricted to PTSA members.
