Our Big Heart Community Service Program celebrates high school students who give back through volunteering. Make a difference through volunteering and earn recognition for your commitment.
Volunteer hours are time you spend helping others—whether an individual, organization, or a cause—without pay. It's just your time, energy, and heart contributing to the community.
Complete and log 100 approved volunteer hours by May 1 of your senior year and you'll receive:
How to Join and Log Hours
Each submission must include: hours, dates, organization name, supervisor/volunteer contact info, and a short description of the activity.
Example of an approved description: “Organized care packages with books and toys for children.”
Example of a not approved description: “Helped kids.”
Frequently Asked Questions
✅ What counts as Community Service?
Volunteering outside of school hours, without pay.
Hours volunteered after 8th grade promotion (including the summer between 8th and 9th grade) through May 1 of senior year.
Hands-on or active participation that directly benefits others.
🚫 What doesn't count?
Volunteering for class credit (like for Health, Sports Medicine, or Music)
Internships or job shadowing
Meetings, rehearsals, planning, travel or sleep time
Court-assigned service hours
Is Community Service required for graduation?
No, participation is completely voluntary.
📅 What is the deadline?
Hours must be submitted hours by May 1 of your senior year. 100 approved hours are required for recognition. We recommend logging hours as you go to avoid last-minute submissions.
